INVESTMENT OPERATIONS PARAPLANNER


BACKGROUND ON THE POSITION:


We take a holistic approach to helping our planning partners achieve their household goals by analyzing their current situation, developing values-based goals, designing customized in-depth financial plans, and assisting with the implementation of the integrated plan.


To assist us in managing and organizing investment and financial planning work flow at an expert level. The investment operations paraplanner position will serves as a resource to Financial Advisors and clients in a successful, fast-paced, friendly and fiduciary environment. The individual will need to be task oriented and capable of working as a contributor on a team, while effectively managing frequent incoming email communications and phone calls.


This position will consistently follow high standards of business and professional ethics when handling, researching and communicating inquiries regarding our clients while supporting the daily operations of the firm. Required to follow legal and regulatory requirements and company policies in dealing with others and/or performing work activities.


KEYS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Excellent communication/presentation

  • Series 7 and 66 preferred (Series 65 minimum)

  • Proficient in RIA software

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:


Investment Operations

  • Monitor accounts for trading activity, distributions, contributions, capital gains and cash positions
  • Audit and troubleshoot brokerage operations tasks initiated by forms pertaining to new and existing accounts. This may include monitoring and troubleshooting transfers, periodic plans, journals, distributions, and contributions, as well as corresponding directly with clients. Tasks may require periodic follow-up over a sustained period to insure accurate completion
  • Prepare investment review materials including a summary of portfolio performance, custom account/portfolio modifications (legacy holdings, alternate investment positions, income laddering), running trade blotters noting trade themes and proposed capital gains, including additional information when appropriate (i.e. published market commentary, performance reports, model portfolio descriptions, etc.) 
  • Recommend and test procedural improvements and enhancements whenever possible

Relationship Management

  • Respond in a timely manner to all communications to acknowledge and/or establish reasonable expectations for completing a task. Requests will require outbound calls to clients and/or additional follow-up
  • Proactively anticipate and fulfill client needs
  • Communicate to your manager all client service-related issues with ideas on how to improve future services

Investment Research

  • Assist in monitoring existing and potential investments, primarily ETFs and mutual funds
  • Conduct high-level research for specific requests such as those pertaining to private placement investments, structured notes, bonds, and other outside (non- custodial assets)
  • Manage reports including client specific reports, alerts, investment research lists, portfolio performance reports, and individual sell-side equity research
  • Read individual fund and investment strategist commentaries; maintain an awareness for economic indicators and capital markets
  • Assist in preparing investment committee presentations and related materials

Financial Planning Support

  • Assists Financial Advisors in the preparation and follow up for the client meetings
  • Works directly with financial planning clients to gather information and input into financial planning software
  • Uses client information to analyze and develop financial plan and strategies
  • Works with advisors to craft recommendations and client deliverables
  • Handles incoming telephone calls for financial planning related activity
  • Researches inquiries regarding customer/member accounts
  • Prepares or coordinates the preparation of routine correspondence and reports

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Previous experience in R.I.A. firm preferred
  • Previous investment and/or financial planning experience required
  • FINRA Series 7 and 66
  • 4 + years of investment related experience specific to brokerage operations and client service preferred
  • 3 + year of experience in mutual funds, ETFs, individual securities, and trading with strong investment and analytical knowledge and skills preferred
  • Strong technical computer aptitude and knowledge of business tools (e.g., Orion, Wealthscape, MAS, Morningstar, MoneyGuide Pro, eMoney, Redtail, Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, etc.) or ability to learn
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain a high quality of work while experiencing frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain integrity of sensitive/confidential information
