Futuro Academy Public Charter School, a new charter elementary school located in East Las Vegas, invites energetic professionals to apply to the position of Elementary School Teacher (K-5). The school is founded on the belief that all students, regardless of their language ability, socioeconomic status, or zip code they were born into, can learn and achieve at high levels during their education when held to the highest expectations by a motivated and well-trained staff. It is our mission to provide an education all students to excel into middle school, through high school, and at the university of their choice.

The school opened in the fall of 2017 with four classes of Kindergarteners and 1st graders. Futuro Academy and added a grade level each year until we became a fully enrolled K-5 charter school. We are looking for high capacity, energetic, detail oriented, and fun loving individuals who love teaching to join our Founding Team.

Schedule (Tentative subject to board approval): Monday-Thursday ( 4 Teaching Days), Friday (Prep/PD/Data Days)

Job Description

The Founding Elementary School Teachers (K-5) will be primarily responsible for all educational matters instructing students in their assigned grade level. Futuro Academy Charter School is seeking Primary Teachers (K-5) to support our mission educating all K-5 scholars to excel into middle school, through high school, and into the university of their choice.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enrich their expertise in the grade level and content taught within K-5th grade;
  • Develop lesson plans that ensure the attainment of state learning standards and the additional specific grade-by-grade learning standards set forth in the charter are met
  • Coordinate lesson plans and team-driven instructional delivery model (including co-teaching and station rotation) with other teachers in order to build student knowledge on an interdisciplinary basis and providing consistency and differentiation;
  • Provide direct and indirect instruction;
  • Long and short-term planning addressing individual needs of students;
  • Prepare students adequately for all required assessments;
  • Evaluate students’ progress through checks for understanding and formal assessments;
  • Prepare at regular intervals individual student achievement reports for families;
  • Maintain positive contact with families including regularly scheduled conferences;
  • Provide an inviting, exciting, innovative, learning environment;
  • Engage in effective and appropriate school-wide classroom management;
  • Incorporate feedback and coaching from leadership staff;
  • Collaborate with support professionals to deliver appropriate supports per student needs
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Leadership to support the instructional or operational parts of the Futuro Academy mission
  • Operate with a deep sense of integrity in following all ethical obligations in management of all interactions, resources and confidential information as mandated by Futuro Academy policy

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor’s Degree, and completed certification to hold a provisional or clear Nevada teaching credential highly preferred and/or acceptance into an ARL provider. National Board certification beneficial.

Preferred Skills and Work Experience

  • Expertise in the subject they will teach, as evidenced by personal skills, knowledge, and an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree education in the subject they will teach, or direct subject-area teaching experience.
  • Proficiency as evidenced by quantitative and qualitative results while teaching in previous experience.

Qualities of a Successful Candidate High-level communication skills;

  • Ability and experience in engaging the interest of school-age children;
  • Enthusiasm to work with diverse children, including those with special needs;
  • Ability to work well with families;
  • Mindset and skills to work effectively as a team member;
  • Demonstrated willingness to be held accountable for student results.
  • Spanish fluency highly preferred

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
