Building Construction Inspector
FWH Associates, P.A. is looking for a full-time inspector to assist with building construction oversight to work out of our Toms River or Bernardsville, NJ office. The building construction inspector is responsible for reviewing the project scope, project specification preparation, construction oversight, and day-to-day interaction with contractors, project team members, our clients, and other technical experts to ensure each project is built according to plans and specifications.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Inspect project sites to create a deficiency list and create a detailed report of findings⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Determine appropriate project phasing for long term replacement jobs
- Perform field measurements (roofs, siding, balconies)
- Revise project specifications manual as required for each project
- Work with contractor personnel to ensure work conforms to project plans and specifications
- Attend various meetings as needed related to assigned construction projects.
- Assist with the preparation of extensive written reports and documentation. Construction report logs are photographed and written daily.
- Perform materials inspection and acceptance prior to installation.
- Point out potential problems to the contractor and keep chief inspector and board informed of project progress.
DELIVERABLES INCLUDE:
- Develop reports in support of community association projects
- Prepare technical specifications for large scale community replacements (roofing, siding, balconies, etc)
- Prepare construction cost estimates
- Interact directly with clients, attorneys and homeowners and maintain professionalism
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have basic math skills to assist with measurements and computations of installed quantities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a fundamental understanding of building construction.
- Must be able to read plans and have a good understanding of project specifications.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
