Job Overview: We are hiring a Shipping Supervisor for 2nd shift at our Fort Wayne, IN location.  

Responsibilities

  • Ensure shipments arrives on time within budget
  • Monitor and oversee outgoing and incoming shipments verifying items are correct and in good condition.
  • Responsible for inspecting every aspect of the loading/unloading operation meeting shipping specifications and ensuring proper use of warehouse space.
  • Review all shipping documentation ensuring correct shipping methods are used.
  • Follow all applicable safety/housekeeping guidelines.
  • Read and follow all Standard Operating Procedures to meet or exceed the Quality Systems Regulation (QSR).
  • Responsible for departmental safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • May be responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Maintain employee time and production records.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. 
  • Enforce safety and work policies.
  • Responsible for selection, training, assignment, discipline, review, and appraisal of employees.
  • May work on special projects/assignments upon request.
  • Must be flexible to work hour 2nd shift hours 3pm to 11pm

 

Qualifications

To perform this task successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises the shipping and receiving department and may fill in throughout the production area as needed.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  The Associate must frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 140 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Essential job duties must be performed at the work site. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to high volume forklift traffic. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

EDUCATION: 

  • 3-5 years supervisor experience in the manufacturing field required
  • Degree in Management, a related field, or equivalent job experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules
  • PC knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point basics
  • SAP knowledge is a plus
