G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its team in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily payroll activities for multiple entities scheduled on differing pay cycles ranging from bi-weekly to semi-monthly.
- Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data into payroll system.
- Reconcile payroll prior to submission by reviewing computed wages and corrects errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Verify accuracy of employee profile on all new hires.
- Ensure terminations are promptly processed in accordance with state / federal guidelines.
- Generate, maintain and organize payroll reports.
- Collect, review and update timekeeping information.
- Obtain supervisory approval on all timecards.
- Manage the maintenance of the employee payroll files.
- Maintain group benefits database and update employee payroll records
- Ensure compliance with new legislation associated with payroll laws, etc.
- Manage the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), PEO, etc. ensuring that personal information and data remain current and ensure the payroll process remains unimpeded.
- Works closely with HR to ensure accurate benefit deductions and recordkeeping.
- Assists HR with garnishments, deductions, PTO accrual.
- Process employee expense reports.
- Provide additional support to Finance Department / HR Department as required.
Qualifications
- 5 years experience in payroll processing for a large volume of employees.
- Experience with payroll reporting to state and government entities.
- Knowledge of GAP accounting principles as they apply to payroll processing.
- Prior experience with Insperity or other PEO platforms a plus
- Working knowledge of garnishments, levies, etc.
- Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; Strong sense of professionalism and courtesy.
- Excellent computer and organization skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, responsibilities and/or projects.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional a plus.
