This employee will be enrolled with the Laborers Union Local 294. The employee will be paid $35.25 per hour, $28.56 in fringes will be paid to the union trust fund on your behalf by G&J. The employee is responsible for paying the monthly union dues to the local union office on time.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Construction Laborer will be responsible for counting loads as they leave the construction site and follow directions from supervisors and other skilled tradesmen. To do well in this role you should be physically fit, reliable, and be a hard worker.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Communicating and coordinating with direct supervisor.
- Work safely in accordance with company’s safety program requirements.
- Accurate completion of documentation as required. i.e. reports, shipment or freight documentation, timecards, vehicle repair inspections, etc.
- Help equipment operators and other skilled labor when necessary.
- Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.
- Load or unload construction materials.
- Put together and take apart temporary structures, such as scaffolding.
- Remove, fill, or compact earth.
- Follow instructions from supervisors.
- Assist craft workers.
- Ready to learn from on-the-job training, when necessary,
- Perform site clean-up.
OTHER DUTIES
Other duties may be assigned as required by position.
1. Be flexible and be available to work weekends, over time as required, and be able to work day or night shift.
2. Reports any operational issues to Operations team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Be at least 18 years of age,
- Experience working as a laborer on construction sites.
- Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
- Ability to work in all weather.
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Experience as a general laborer in the construction / trucking industry preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with clients, customers, and coworkers.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and can effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and perform quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Efficiently navigate a map or following road instructions.
- Must demonstrate initiative, cooperation, and level of discretion/confidentiality.
- Self-starter and ability to follow up and follow through on all tasks.
- Ability to complete manual timesheets, load tickets/tags, Daily Vehicle Inspection Record, and other forms as needed.
- Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws to drive safely.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, and talk or hear.
- The ability to stand up for long hours and sit for long hours.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The ability to drive a motor vehicle. This also includes that you possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record within our insurance driver guidelines.
