What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers?
Provide ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost, and margin analysis. Make recommendations about cost-efficiency and financially feasible cost options. Work closely with the sales and management team to establish customer pricing.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Perform variance analysis including purchase price to cost variance, cost revaluation and invoice to PO Price variances.
- Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
- Provide accurate costing data for product and indirect costs for new and existing products to assist the sales department with development of customer and product pricing.
- Create reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
- Assist in developing the annual budget including the accumulation and analysis of historical production data and costs. Regular reporting and analysis of budget versus actual results to management.
- Be a key driver of process improvement in areas of production costing, reporting, and analysis through further integration with ERP System
- Develop standard costing methodology for materials and labor and maintain EFP system with that data
- Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
- Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Review inventory procedures and assist production manager with inventory counts and reconciliation of raw material, work in progress, and finished goods inventory
- Assist in the review of financial information for MSG including margin analysis for products
- Assists co-workers on various accounting projects to help increase efficiencies and become more accurate.
- Communicates with other employees regarding requests for information, supervisor and management team regarding any problems or issues.
- Maintains confidentiality of financial information, pricing, customer information and other sensitive and confidential information.
- Adheres to all company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. OSHA and safety requirements, Federal/State/Local Laws).
- Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required. Knowledge of the printing industry preferred.
- Experience: 3 years of previous cost accounting experience.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite; Accounting ERP systems; general accounting practices and financial management; financial statements.
- Other Requirements: Skill in: Strong financial analysis skills, advanced knowledge of mathematics and statistics, understanding of organizational accounting concepts, excellent attention to detail, effective communication, superior knowledge of financial reporting software tools. Ability to: work quickly, efficiently and independently; multi-task; follow-through; meet deadlines in a pressured situation; communicate effectively with other employees and develop good working relationships; adapt to change; problem solve; read and write.
