What part will you play?
- GAF Energy is seeking a Lead Roofing & Solar Technician to perform product inspections in the field and repair or replace roofing components such as solar modules as needed.
- The ideal candidate must have a can-do approach to field work, and will be able to efficiently and independently prioritize tasks to deliver on deadlines and minimize downtime.
- The ideal candidate will also have a strong residential roofing and/or solar construction skill set, and an aptitude for applying their skills to efficiently diagnose and fix problems.
- This role will report to the regional Quality Assurance lead for day-to-day assignments and support.
- Specific training will be provided.
What will you do?
- Use test equipment to take measurements on solar system components and evaluate their performance based on pass/fail criteria provided.
- Determine materials and equipment needed to install and replace roofing and solar system components.
- Setup, secure, climb and descend ladders and equipment to access residential roofs.
- Install and use safety equipment during work tasks, including Personal Fall Arrest Systems when working at heights.
- Follow installation plans and work instructions to install roofing and solar components.
- Work efficiently and safely with hand and power tools.
- Communicate effectively with customers and homeowners to schedule new work and report on the results of completed work.
- Work with other Quality Assurance and Operations teams to provide the best customer experience.
What do we require from you?
- 3 years of verifiable experience in roofing and/or solar construction
- Data entry and attend meetings to provide project updates
- Schedule projects
- Communicate with customers
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Suite
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
- The ability to travel often
- The ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform other physical tasks in a dynamic outdoor environment.
- Good at establishing clear directions. Lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner. Maintains two-way dialogue with others on work and results. Brings out the best in people. A clear communicator.
- Provides recent, direct, complete, and "actionable" positive as well as negative specific feedback to others.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to wear safety equipment (weighing up to 15 lbs) and perform work at heights.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders and/or stairs.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus is required.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and maintain balance on sloped surfaces such as roofs.
- Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing is required.
- Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of tools and equipment is required.
- Communicating verbally in person and through automated devices such as the telephone are required.
