Summary: The EHS Specialist function utilizes the existing procedures and their acquired knowledge to provide EHS technical support to the Plant through coordination of EHS activities and programs. This role supports the implementation, execution, and maintenance of the environmental, health, and safety systems for the plant. As the EHS Specialist, you will work collaboratively with the Corporate EHS team, Plant Management, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering team members and focus on various projects and initiatives within these teams. Essential Duties: Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ● Practice safe working techniques and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company. ● Review accidents and incidents, conduct field audits and reporting and oversee EHS corrective actions. ● Ensure the plant is current on all relevant Environmental, Health and Safety documents. ● Coordinate with Plant Manager, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering Departments on facility deficiencies through site audits and inspections. ● Conduct audits to monitor personnel and workspace improvements. ● Be the on-site EHS support that leads the plant’s EHS management system through proactive engagement with the location EHS program champions. ● Facilitates with program champions to support the location’s periodic environmental, health and safety management system self-assessments against the Corporate EHS ● Management Practices and applicable regulations as directed by the Plant Manager and Corporate EHS. ● Ensure that Corporate EHS management practices are embedded in the operation and these management practices are driving the appropriate behavior. ● Identify site-specific circumstances requiring changes to the EHS management system, and enable the successful implementation and sustainability at a local level. ● Utilizing the EHS Enterprise System (Gensuite - EHS) - record and analyze accident and incident records and make recommendations regarding corrective actions, emphasizing pro-active intervention. ● Partner with plant leadership and operators, ensuring that the plant is free from risks to the environment, health, and safety. ● Assist with the new employee orientation process and assure completion of EHS training for all employees. ● Partner with plant leadership to ensure that accident and incident investigations are conducted in a timely, effective, and thorough manner to determine root cause and prevention measures. ● Ensure the findings of accident investigations, safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments are brought to the attention of leadership and others who may be affected. ● Use data to make recommendations on changes to training programs, SOPs, JSAs, and tools to prevent accidents, and educate and protect employees. ● Work with Human Resources and Corporate EHS on Worker’s Compensation cases, ensuring they are in line with company policy. ● Coordinate with appropriate industry related vendors and SMEs, related to the EHS needs of the organization. ● Support sustainability operations assessments within the plant ● Support implementation of HS training and records across the plant (Engineering, Maintenance, Admin etc.) ● Support plant leadership on capital project planning to align sustainability efforts with capital and engineering projects ● Perform other duties assigned Under This Roof, We Require : ● Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical or Environmental Engineering or a related field required. ● Master’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environment Science or related field preferred. ● Certified Safety Professional, (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist, (CIH) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) required. ● Minimum 3 to 5 years of work experience in workplace environmental, health and safety program management. ● Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, policies, programs, PPE, environmental policies (EPA), safety engineering, accident/injury investigation procedures and operating rules, etc. ● Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with computer skills.
