Great American Insurance Group is seeking an AVP, Strategy to join the Strategy & Innovation office. This person will help secure a winning future for Great American by developing and leading enterprise strategy efforts and facilitating bottoms up strategic planning for our 37 business units. The AVP, Strategy will ensure that strategic efforts are translated into specific actions, assuring a linkage between the strategy practice and annual operating plans. This person will act as a key advisor to divisional and enterprise leadership on critical changes in the market and will work with GAIG’s research team to establish a market intelligence discipline that filters and disseminates relevant external information to leadership. The AVP, Strategy is passionate about the formulation of strategic direction and preparing for the future through the evaluation of societal / technology / industry trends and customer / agent needs and behaviors. Responsibilities: Develops and drives the enterprise strategy development and management process Plans, organizes, and develops analyses grounded in deep understanding of the business, industry & market trends, customer / agent behavior and competitive strategy Develops market-based assumptions based on relevant trends including emerging risks and operating environment Collaborates with leadership on planned outcomes aligned for the enterprise and business units Facilitates the execution of the strategy by working collaboratively with leadership, ensuring that the strategy is communicated and easily understood by all throughout the organization and respective business units Establishes activities prioritized for action and accompanying measurements Works with finance and other departments to determine options for activity funding to meet planned outcomes Qualifications: Knowledgeable – expertise within financial services and business strategy Results driven - eager to see output work being used and making a difference Accountable and independent - able to succeed in a corporate start-up environment Intellectually curious – always seeking ways to improve work product and own performance Collaborative - able to work closely together with colleagues to identify opportunities and to develop solutions Presence - comfortable presenting to senior management Organized - able to prioritize and easily switch between projects Clear – departmental mission and team goals are clearly communicated Proven - able to inspire and engage, build talent and foster collaboration in a large company Business Unit: Innovation Number of Positions: 1
