ABOUT THE JOB
Galaxy Wine Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with managerial and accounting experience. This individual should have the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
The Accounting Manager will assist the Controller (NY) in tracking and evaluating day-to-day activities and with the month end and year end close. Accounting Manager responsibilities include implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information. This position will manage the Portland Accounting team which consists of an AP and AR Specialist.
THE DAY-TO DAY
- Full responsibility for the preparation of general ledger journal entries for the month-end close in a timely manner.
- Verifies, allocates, posts accounts, and reconciles for both accounts payables and receivable.
- Prepares and records revenue entries.
- Understands, analyzes and completes monthly bank statements reconciliations, including explaining and reclassifying variances.
- Weekly preparation of all payment runs, including checks, wires etc.
- Identifies and records any fixed assets activity.
- Monitors and analyzes accounting data.
- Establishes and enforces proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
- Assists in coordinating and completing annual audits.
- Improves systems and procedures and initiates corrective actions.
- Meets financial accounting objectives.
- Establishes and maintains fiscal files and records document transaction.
- Leads, coach, develop, and motivate a cohesive high-performing team.

AM I THE RIGHT FIT?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 5 years of accounting experience.
- 2 years of management experience.
- Wine and Spirits industry experience a plus.
- Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Accounting software and databases.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
- Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
- High-attention to detail and accuracy.
- Organized and excellent follow-through a must; detail-oriented and deadline driven.
- Proactive, self-motivated, takes initiative and ability to direct and supervise.
- Team player with a positive attitude; flexible to adapt to changing needs/priorities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
