II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The Prep Tech Lead is responsible in assisting the Supervisor in maintaining a safe department at all times and must wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing all duties; they must also ensure that the employees they supervise do the same, and they must stop work immediately if they observe any non-compliance.
- In the Supervisors absence, the Lead will Immediately report all accidents as well as near miss incidents to the General Manager and EHS personnel, actively participates in investigative and prevention activities to ensure that the same type of incident does not reoccur.
- The Lead must maintain an open, honest and respectful relationship with his/her direct reports, they must lead by example, share knowledge openly and work to achieve what is best for the team as a whole.
- The Prep Tech Lead will assist the Supervisor to ensure that 5-S is practiced within their assigned area; all common tools will be returned to their defined place when not in use and the work area must be cleaned and free from debris once the daily work has been completed. If a tool, part, etc. does not have a defined space to be stored, the Lead will assist the Supervisor in meeting with the team to establish one.
- The Lead will assist the Supervisor in leading his/her department in the pursuit of continuous improvement, always looking for and encouraging others to look for improvement opportunities in their assigned tasks as well as the plant as a whole.
- The Prep Tech Lead will collaborate with the Supervisor, Human Resources and Environmental, Health & Safety departments to train and assist in acclimating newly hired employees in the department’s daily operations, goals and general expectations of the company.
- Review the truck chassis with the model of hoist to be mounted and plan out what steps are necessary to complete the installation.
- Install some of the electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic components needed prior to the hoist mounting process.
- Inspect work before truck is moved on in process
- Employee operates a hand held plasma, huck gun, torch, air drill and chain drill as part of their everyday duties.
- Operate a forklift to move components as needed.
- Train other employees as needed
- Other duties as assigned
III. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading.
- Ability to understands & carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Knowledge of electric, hydraulics, and pneumatics preferred.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
