TitleTeacherReports to: Assigned AdministratorGeneral Description: Plans, implements, and assesses student learning experiencesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Valid license from the Ohio Department of Education2.Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators3.Anticipates time constraints and manages tasks efficiently to meet deadlines4.Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies, and administrative guidelines/procedures5.Exhibits consistent, impartial, and resourceful decision-making skills, interprets information accurately, evaluates options thoroughly, and develops reasonable solutions to resolve issues6.Meets Federal, State, and County mandated health screening requirementsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: A.Teaches assigned classes/subject matter as scheduled. Plans, organizes, and implements appropriate lesson plans aligned with state standards/district curriculum goals1.Communicates program objectives/performance expectations to students/parents2.Maintains a thorough understanding of subject matter and pedagogy, organizes subject content and learning goals3.Prepares instructional materials, arranges the classroom for instruction4.Evaluates academic needs of students, develops effective educational experiences that engage and stimulate student learning, varies instructional techniques to address student learning styles5.Actively collaborates with staff to share effective instructional strategies and resources6.Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to manage student learning and monitor progress7.Helps identify/resolve problems that impede student participation in appropriate learning activities8.Incorporates the use of technology resources to facilitate learning9.Provides intervention assistance as needed10.Facilitates opportunities for all students to participate in an inclusive educational environment11.Advocates for students, pays attention to student demeanor, helps students better understand themselves, make appropriate choices, and grow academically12.Promotes cultural awareness, self-reliance, problem-solving, critical- thinking, and creativity skills13.Facilitates student learning activities that encourage teamwork and positive peer relationships14.Evaluates student achievement/performance, prepares progress reports15.Proctors state/district testing activities as directed, upholds mandated security procedures16.Requests a student evaluation when a learning need or disability is suspected, assists with the multi-factored evaluation (ETR) process, meets mandated paperwork time lines17.Plans/implements student intervention strategies that produce tangible evidence-based benefits within specified time-frames, monitors intervention efficacy to improve outcomes18.Ensures that student lists and teaching materials are readily available for substitutesAdditional duties for enrichment assignments: Helps write Written Education Plans (WEPs) for gifted students (Gifted Teacher)Participates in ongoing professional development in giftedB.Exemplifies professionalism that advances the districts public image1.Contributes to an effective and positive work/learning environment2.Develops mutually respectful relationships with co-workers functioning as part of a cohesive team3.Encourages the continuous advancement of academic standards4.Helps students understand/embrace ethical conduct and values5.Maintains a professional appearance6.Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual7.Provides guidance and shows an active interest in the academic/personal development of students8.Respects privacy and maintains the confidentiality of privileged information9.Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others10.Supports community participation in school-sponsored activities11.Takes advantage of opportunities to promote district programsC.Maintains open/effective communications1.Keeps informed about program/procedure changes and serves as an information resource2.Participates in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities3.Prepares/maintains accurate records and submits required paperwork on time4.Provides prompt notification of personal delays or absences5.Refers district policy interpretation questions to administrators6.Uses active listening and program-solving techniques to resolve questions/concerns tactfully7.Uses diplomacy, exercises self-control, and respects diversity when dealing with other individualsD.Pursues opportunities to enhance professional performance1.Keeps current with technology and other skills associated with work assignments2.Maintains applicable credentials and complies with all state licensure requirements3.Works toward mastery of individualized development/performance goals as directedE.Takes precautions to ensure safety1.Implements effective pupil management procedures, upholds the student code of conduct, supervises students, and maintains high expectations for appropriate student behavior2.Intervenes to prevent/stop bullying and /or inappropriate student behavior3.Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law4.Watches for situations that may indicate a problem, helps manage/eliminate risks5.Works with staff/students to address equipment safety/security issuesF.Performs other specific job-related duties as directed1.Assists with unexpected/urgent situations as needed2.Helps implement new procedures/assignments3.Supports workplace initiatives that improve productivity and advance District goalsWORKING CONDITIONS: Safety is essential to job performance.
