This position earns a competitive salary between $78,000 and $85,000 a year and is eligible for a performance-based incentive plan. ABOUT PARK BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND VISIT GALVESTON

In 1963, the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIPB) and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the six parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales or property tax is collected by the Park Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business backgrounds. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TRAVEL TRADE SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER

As a Travel Trade Sales and Marketing Manager, you're on a mission to show Domestic and International Tour Operators, Receptive Operators, and Travel Agents that Galveston is the ideal destination for their customers! With our gorgeous beaches, beautiful hotels, and excellent facilities, you find there are plenty of ways to entice planners to include our coastal city in client itineraries. Of course, it takes some effort to generate leads, but as an experienced and self-motivated salesperson, you know how to connect with the right people. As a networking pro, you eagerly attend tradeshows and client events to solicit business. With tour operators and travel agents as your targets, you prospect within these groups, provide training, make presentations, write proposals, and more to secure their bookings for local hotels, tour companies, transportation services, and experiences. You love having the opportunity to travel and meet new people!

When travel trade planners seem undecided, you extend an invitation to visit Galveston and arrange for a tour of our excellent facilities and attractions. You proactively coordinate itineraries and marketing co-ops, and your willingness to go the extra mile wins over potential clients. Committed to providing exceptional customer service, you stay in touch with clients before, during, and after tours to ensure total satisfaction.

Organized and attentive to detail, you compile monthly activity reports to make sure you're on track to achieve your goals. When necessary, you provide training for other members of the sales team so you can succeed together. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A TRAVEL TRADE SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• 3-5 years of experience with a convention/visitors/tourism bureau, hotel, or hospitality industry-related business
• Proficiency with office equipment including a laptop and fax machine
• Valid Class C driver's license
• Willingness to receive training to become a Certified Tourism Ambassador

Being professionally certified in the tourism or hospitality field as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Destination Management Professional (CDME), or Certified Tourism Executive (CTE) would be a plus. WORK SCHEDULE FOR A TRAVEL TRADE SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER

This Sales Manager position typically works Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Occasional early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required depending on operational needs and deadlines. This job requires travel both within and outside of the Galveston area.
