Assistant Classroom Teachers

Monday thru Friday (with once monthly evening staff meeting) - full year. Our school is open from 8:00AM to 5:30PM and we are looking for staff who are flexible in working any or all of those hours. Afternoons (after 2PM and until 5:30PM are a must) and flexible mornings if needed for sub coverage are available.

Have you ever heard the expression, “Understanding computers is child’s play compared to understanding child’s play”? Well, here at Gan Aviv, we know that working with children is way more fun than sitting in front of a computer all day! Here is a glance at what our assistants and teachers are responsible for daily.

Primary Responsibilities:

• The ability to rapidly count the heads of numerous moving small people is of the utmost importance.
• The ability to receive hugs from each child in the class…all at once (while also managing the feelings of the kiddo who didn’t get to hug you first).
• You must be able to laugh at jokes that you don’t understand, or you don’t find funny. Child humor can be a confusing minefield to navigate.
• You must feel comfortable telling everybody in the room that you are going to use the bathroom.
• Simultaneously be able to sing songs, help clean up toys, hand out snacks, and help a child draw on the paper (instead of the wall).

We are looking for classroom assistants who:

• Are nurturing, reliable, responsible, positive & a team player!
• Have reliable transportation and a strong work ethic.
• Are 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma/GED.
• Can work 5 days a week as needed
• Rate of pay is based on experience, position you are hired for and type of degree you have, if any (but is not required).
• Hebrew speaker a plus but not required.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for students
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans
- Support students in their educational and social development
- Assist with behavior management and promote positive classroom behavior
- Provide individualized attention and support to students as needed
- Assist with classroom organization and maintenance
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom culture
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress

Qualifications:
- Experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in a preschool or early childhood education environment
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices
- Familiarity with literacy education strategies for young children
- Ability to assist with lesson planning and implementation
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to effectively manage student behavior in a positive manner
- Knowledge of toddler care practices is a plus
