What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Director position at Gandara Center?
Project Amp is an extended brief mentorship intervention that utilizes the power of mentoring to implement a youth-focused, strengths-based, and non-punitive prevention and early intervention resource. This multi-session intervention originated within a Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) framework, and pairs youth with a mentor with lived experience of recovery and resiliency specific to substance use, mental health, trauma or related challenges. The mentor will meet with youth over four to six sessions and together, they work toward exploring youth participant’s strengths and interests, navigating pressures and well-being, understanding alcohol and drug risks, developing self-efficacy, clarifying values, achieving goals, and finding positive social connections in the school and community. The Project Amp Program Director will oversee program planning and implementation in conjunction with the Senior Director of Community Services. The Project Amp Program Director will be responsible for recruiting, supporting and meeting with youth. The Director will also be responsible for data collection and reporting for the program.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Provide programmatic oversight
- Coordinate and meet with mentees delivering approved curriculum
- Ensure delivery of supports with integrity
- Develop and employ strategies to recruit and retain mentees
- Develop and maintain partner relationships
- Assist with budget management
- Data entry and record keeping
- Maintain fidelity to program outcomes measuring, data collection, tracking and analysis
- Attend internal and external meetings and trainings as required by the agency or its funders.
- Responsible for the timely submission of all funder and agency paperwork in accordance with agency policies and funder requirements
Education/Experience - Required
- BA/BS in human services, social work or a related field is preferred; 2 years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Lived experience may be substituted for 2 years of educational experience.
- Experience working with adolescents exposed to risks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience with organizing and/or facilitating youth development programs and services in community and/or school-based settings, preferably with youth 13-18 years of age from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of youth programming and substance abuse prevention
- Ability to incorporate equity and cultural humility into practice
- Self-motivated and well organized with good time-management skills
- Creativity, flexibility, a positive attitude toward the team concept
- Good communication skills with public speaking, writing, navigating the internet and social-media
- Proficient with Microsoft applications
- Familiarity with Springfield and youth resources and supports
- Supports the mission and goals of the agency
