Summary of Position:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented QC Technician Lead to join our team. The QC Lead is responsible for overseeing the sifting and inspection of cannabis buds to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards. This role involves managing a team of QC Technicians, ensuring compliance with established procedures, and maintaining the quality and efficiency of the sifting and inspection process. The QC Lead will also handle performance metrics and ensure that processing targets are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Team Management:
- Oversee and lead the QC team in sifting and inspecting cannabis buds.
- Coordinate and prepare materials for daily production to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Provide guidance and training to QC Technicians on SOP compliance and quality standards.
- Conduct one-on-one coaching and performance improvement plans as necessary.
- Ensure the team meets the daily processing target of 15 pounds per person of sifted material.
Sifting and Inspection Process:
- Verify that all equipment (sifters, cambros, trim bins, etc.) is clean and in proper working condition.
- Ensure that material to be sifted is correctly labeled and documented.
- Monitor the sifting process, ensuring proper categorization of buds (Big Buds, Small Buds, Tinies).
- Conduct visual inspections to identify and address mold, botrytis, poor trim jobs, and larf.
- Document quantities of sifted buds and any issues identified during inspection.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of sifting and inspection activities.
- Track performance metrics and prepare reports on daily processing rates and quality issues.
- Document any corrective actions taken and reasons for such actions.
- Ensure compliance with all documentation requirements as per the SOP.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Enforce adherence to the Quality Control Sifting and Inspection SOP.
- Ensure that all quality standards are met and maintained.
- Handle non-compliance issues and take corrective actions as needed.
Training and Development:
- Provide ongoing training and refresher courses for QC personnel.
- Stay updated on changes to SOPs and quality standards, implementing necessary adjustments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality control or inspection role, preferably in the cannabis industry.
- Strong understanding of sifting and inspection processes, as well as quality control standards.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle performance metrics and address performance issues effectively.
- Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment.
Previous experience in Quality Control, supporting cannabis industry.
Exposure to and working knowledge of manual and computer-generated batch records and records keeping complying with state regulations.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standard operating procedures, checklists, and protocols.
WORK CONTEXT Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks.
Must be able to navigate through corporate office environments with or without the use of mobility aids.
Must have the manual dexterity to complete job functions with or without accommodation.
Must have visual acuity with/without job aids to perform activities such as reading, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small parts/details. Clarity of vision at 20 ft or more in day and night/dark conditions
Must be able to speak and communicate verbally at conversation levels with co-workers, vendors, etc. (Moderate noise) Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance.
