Job Summary:
In pursuit of continuous improvement, the CNC Programmer plans and creates cutting programs for CNC Lathes & Mills and trains employees in support of production facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analyzes technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and other engineering data
- Participates in the determining the machining process sequence
- Participates in defining work piece holding solutions
- Responsible for selection of tooling required to produce quality parts while maintaining cost and efficiency targets.
- Transform process plans into CNC code using CAM software
- Analyze programs using simulation or verification software
- Participates in validation of programs prior to production release. Ensures that program produces work that meets drawing requirements.
- Establish and publish setup operations for each program
- Participate on KAIZEN cost reduction teams
- Manage tool library, CAM library, and production release locations.
- Represents department by developing good working relationships at all levels of the organization
- Assists in selection and justification of new machine tools and equipment
- Provides programming support in production to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems
- Measure and evaluate parts to Quality standards
- Review and process engineering changes
Required Skills/Abilities:
- ESPRIT software a plus
- Experience with FANUC controls
- Conversion of 3D Models to CNC Programming Code utilizing CAM Software (2 years of CAM experience)
- GD & T – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Familiarity with standard precision measuring techniques
- AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
- Experience with high production output a plus
Education and Experience:
- 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; 5 years’ experience specific to CNC Milling Programming
- High School diploma or GED required (or international equivalent).
- Prefer Associates or Vocational/Technical training with 6-8 years related experience
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
