Risk Manager

Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital is seeking a Risk Manager to join our team in Chicago, IL.

Role Description:

• Manages the hospital-wide risk management program.
• Completes internal and external investigations related to patient/visitor incidents .
• Coordinates the monitoring, auditing, and addressing of open chart issues; assists with collecting and analyzing chart audit process.
• Maintains current knowledge regarding peer review, data collection, and management; promotes current practices in the hospital’s quality improvement initiative; assists others with same.
• Assists with the credentialing process to ensure that the Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards are met.
• Establishes the standards of documentation and trains clinical employees of the hospital.
• Functions as one of the primary contacts for the patient advocate issues and performs internal investigations regarding any issues and/or incident reports. Assists and/or leads all internal and external surveys of the hospital.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's in healthcare related field required. RN or Masters in a healthcare related field preferred. Training in healthcare compliance activities, healthcare safety/risk management, hospital performance improvement activities, and hospital administration preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three to five to seven years psychiatric experience. Experience must include expose to Joint Commission standards.

Licensure/Certification: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, RN, LPN or related licensure/certification preferred.

Knowledge: Excellent communication and organizational skills, knowledge of medical terminology required. Computer skills required, including Word, Excel and database knowledge.
