Responsibilities
In collaboration with the BHS Leadership Team, is responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the Outpatient Counseling Services at Garnet Health Doctors. Participates in weekly utilization review meetings and coordinate care with all members of outpatient behavioral health team, including therapists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, residents, and students. Provides psychiatric assessment and treatment to children and adolescents. Develops treatment plans in collaboration with other service providers. Provides direct patient care in the outpatient department, and when needed psychiatric consultation services to the pediatric unit at Garnet Health Medical Center. Provides services both in person and via telehealth. Directly supervises and participates in the education of general psychiatry residents. Maintains liaison with community providers, schools, and OCDMH by attending meetings as appropriate. Helps prepare for certification and accreditation inspections by DNV and other regulatory agencies.

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $279,779 through $325,423 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
Qualifications
Minimum Education: M.D./ D.O
Minimum Experience:
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.
- Residency in Psychiatry, Fellowship trained.in Child and Adolescent.
Required Certification/Registration:
- NYS Medical License
- Board Certification in Psychiatry
- Board Eligibility in Child and Adolescent Training
- Active and Unrestricted D.E.A. Certificate
- Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate
- Current Infectious Certificate
Physical Requirements:
Working Conditions:
- Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. Frequent contact with various Garnet Health staff, sales representatives, employees and community members. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and push over 75 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out and below.
- Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
