What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Clerk position at Garvey Corporation?
Garvey Corporation is recognized as a leader in the manufacturing of conveyors, accumulation and special materials handling systems. Located on Route 73 in Blue Anchor, NJ we serve the pharmaceutical, food/beverage and general packaging markets.
We are looking for an Inventory Clerk that is detail-oriented, hard working, self motivated with great organizational, communication, analytical, written and math skills. This candidate should have at least two years Inventory/Warehouse experience.
Task and Responsibility:
- Maintaining and update records
- Cycle counting inventory stock levels and adjust accordingly through our system
- Reporting discrepancies between physical counts and computer records
- Implementing new processes
- Stocking and distributing supplies, or parts
- Maintaining organization and cleanliness throughout the department
- Pulling and issuing parts for specific job requirements
- Labeling parts with job number and part numbers
- Collecting priority parts from other departments in a timely manner
- Scanning and processing all travelers and packets through our ERP system
- Assisting colleagues from other departments with locating specific parts through our system and pulling parts needed
Skills:
Inventory clerks require several hard and soft skills to succeed at work. Some of these skills include:
- Detail-oriented: Inventory clerks must be good at keeping track of small details, such as barcodes, pricing information, supplies, stock levels and damages.
- Focus: Inventory clerks must concentrate and stay on task despite the bustling environment.
- Organization: Inventory clerks are responsible for more than just counting boxes and reconciling inventory statements. They may also be required to trace missing stock and help organize the stockroom.
- Computer competency: Inventory clerks must be good at operating a variety of computer programs, as these programs might be required to compile reports, update counts and more. They may need to hold a working knowledge of certain types of
advanced software to record damages or enter barcodes. They may also be required to update databases or use specialized software to order more supplies.
- Communication: Inventory clerks must be good at creating clear reports and communicating issues to their supervisors.
- Mathematical: Because inventory clerks are responsible for keeping accurate counts and tallies, they must have good math skills, alongside good analytical abilities.
- Physical fitness: Inventory clerks must be able to squat and lift and push or pull heavy items.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- 2 years experience in inventory control
- Must be able to lift, squat, push and pull
- Ability to work extended hours
- Forklift experience beneficial
- To work independently and with a team
- Self motivated
