Description
Summary: The IT Specialist reports to the System Specialist. The IT Specialist installs, modifies and makes minor
repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical advice and support to system users.
Minimum Qualifications and Prerequisites
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in technical field.
- 2 years prior retail environment experience.
- Available to be on-call 24/7. Schedule must be flexible. Work week may exceed 40 hours per week.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Must have proven people skills.
- Demonstrates effective problem solving/analytical skills and pays attention to details.
- Knowledge of item level inventory and auditing procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Identifies and procures the hardware and software needed to satisfy user requirements.
- Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives on users’ premises.
- Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications.
- Assists in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users’ requirements.
- Provides telephone, in-person and online support to end-users.
- Monitors store support portal and assists with support tickets.
- Provides updates, status and completion information to manager and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail or in-person communication.
- Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
- Connects users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications.
- Administers e-mail and anti-virus systems.
- Daily use of back office systems, i.e., price-book, report modules, and fuel modules.
- Assists in research and procurement of computer accessories and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment and on multiple retail sites as required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
- Local travel from site to site is required.
- Some light travel out of state may be expected.
