Clinical Support (Substance Abuse Treatment)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM
Salary: $35-40k (based on experience and credentials)

Overview: You will play an integral role in providing top-tier clinical services to our clients in a correctional setting. Assisting with providing substance abuse treatment to individuals suffering with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The Clinical Suport Technician is responsible for:
- Supervises clients’ therapeutic and recreational activities, monitors client break periods and movement, including intervening to control or channel inappropriate behaviors, making rounds, taking census counts, etc. Reports client observations, incidents, unusual occurrences, missing residents or physical symptoms to appropriate personnel and records improvement / progress.
- Upon successful completion of the required internal training, provides didactic sessions according to designated curricula within the program. May present chemical dependency education and life skills classes to assist clients with basic education on these topics.
- Guides and assists clients in complying with Center rules and regulations. Initiates evening meeting or morning wake up routines according to established schedules. Notifies appropriate personnel of residents failing to comply with Center policies and rules.
- Maintains and updates client records, including recording clinical hours, therapeutic treatments, activity or group participation, job readiness progress, and so forth; in accordance with all local, state and federal contractual requirements.
- Serves as member of the treatment team providing input to treatment plans, discipline protocols, conflict intervention processes or privileges. Assists team in maintaining consistent setting for treatment, and planning and coordinating client interaction events.
- Performs variety of related office and technical duties as necessary such as answering telephones, relaying messages, responding to inquiries regarding program services and policies, filing, photocopying and faxing documents, planning special events, assembling intake packets, participating in client activities to promote socialization, overseeing client telephone calls, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalency with two (2) years of prior experience in the substance abuse field; or
- An Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in any unrelated area of study from an accredited academic institution and one (1) year of experience in the counseling or chemical addictions field; or
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any of the social sciences.
- General knowledge of the physical, cognitive and psychosocial functioning level of the client population; and the demonstrated ability to appropriately interact, tailor interventions, including de-escalation techniques, and communicate with clients based on their individual maturation level
- Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to exchange information and interact with treatment team and referral sources, and provide clients with counseling support and motivation
If you have also previously worked as a Substance Use Counselor, SUD Counselor, Addiction Counselor, Mental Health Counselor, Mental Health Technician, Behavioral Health Technician, Recovery Coach, Peer Support Specialist, or similar roles, you are encouraged to apply!
