Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events.

About the Opportunity

The Operational Data Specialist/Testing Liaison will serve as a key member of the school team and will be responsible for identifying short and long-term data needs/goals and reporting strategies across the organization with special focus on student engagement, earned credits and graduation rate. They also work with the regional team in the planning and implementation of all Ohio required assessments (EOC, STAR, ACT and any CTE required tests) in alignment with the philosophy and policies adopted by the school, and the state board of education, as well as the provisions of law, and the directives of the school leadership team.

As the Operational Data Specialist you will support the following:

  • Works closely with staff and stakeholders across the organization to gather and distribute data
  • Provides in-depth analysis and reports in support of key education related decisions and goals
  • Consults with staff and stakeholders to develop technology solutions in response to educational and operational needs, works closely with colleagues to accurately quantify issues in terms of data to problem-solve more effectively
  • Collaborates with organizational and school level team leaders to develop and oversee training and implementation of processes that maximum operational efficiency and meet internal and external requirements
  • Makes recommendations on the selection and implementation of new systems
  • Analyzes data with standard statistical methods, interprets the results, and provides written summary of analyses, shares knowledge of analysis techniques and data coding with others
  • Communicates and collaborates with school team in discussing business intelligence needs and functional requirements
  • Assists in gathering and presenting data needed for new school development opportunities
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to design and develop statistical analyses which address projected research questions; conducts research and collects data that helps to develop products and meet school needs
  • Participates in ongoing decisions concerning data collections, study design, methodology, and data analysis; identifies, develops, and proposes alternative data metrics
  • Collaborates with the leadership team on the creation of a school-wide data governance plan and data management policies and procedures
  • Monitors and analyzes data from various assessment and instructional systems
  • Creates and maintains dashboards, trackers, and various data visualizations for assessment and instructional data to inform the work of teachers and administrators
  • Supports teachers with actionable data to inform classroom instruction
  • Works with the school team to create and implement data based instructional plans
  • Trains and supports teachers in data literacy and data driven instructional practices
  • Supports teacher data meetings
  • Maintain necessary accounts with the Department of Education and other testing vendors
  • Maintain an accurate student database of assigned assessments and student accommodations
  • Track and plan for all students requiring make-up testing
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with sites and venues, navigate bookings and agreements to arrange for testing sites for all necessary State Tests
  • Order all applicable tests and materials
  • Assist with resolving data issues that arise from internal corporate or state audits
  • Assist State Reporting Staff with compiling all testing data for reporting
  • Manage distribution of student result reports to families
  • Coordinate communications for staff and families with respect to testing
  • Create and facilitate virtual and in-person staff training regarding test security and best practices in test administration
  • Provide reports along with continuous feedback to management
  • Coordinate communications for staff and families with respect to testing
  • Create, distribute, and manage testing site staffing plans and assignments
  • Coordinate distribution and collection of testing materials
  • Work with the SWD and 504 Coordinator to identify and facilitate student accommodations, including extended-time testing
  • Attend all professional development offered by the district regarding updating and maintaining information in the district's databases and testing
  • Import all state test scores into Student Information System (SIS)
  • Craft professional, respectful, and courteous communication for a variety of stakeholders
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned

About You

  • Ohio residency
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Education, Computer Science, Math, or a related field
  • 2 years of data extraction, analysis, and reporting experience in an educational setting
  • Experience with online learning preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
  • Ability to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicated
  • Demonstrates a mature attitude and insight into matters affecting department, self and /or school welfare
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated Project Management Skills
  • Strong Organizational and prioritization skills along with the ability to meet concurrent deadlines
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate well with stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience creating and maintaining structured datasets
  • Familiarity with advanced Excel functions including Power Query
  • Ability and willingness to travel to testing sites within the state
  • Previous experience with testing administration in K-12 schools preferred
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI)
