What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vessel Crane Operator position at Gateway Terminals?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible handling of material and cargo while operating shipboard whirley cranes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Move bulk and break-bulk material and cargo through the use of ships cranes (whirley style).
Operate cranes safely and efficiently.
Assist with rigging activities during stevedoring operations.
Successfully complete all required training programs.
Follow all safety and operational policies, regulations and programs.
Interact effectively with other employees.
Perform other duties as assigned and assist other staff as needed.
Travel Company locations and operations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
HS Diploma or equivalent.
Valid drivers license and transportation, required.
Minimum 1–3 years experience operating heavy equipment including: front-end loader, bulldozer, excavator, heavy forklift, whirley style cranes, CDL class B trucks.
Experience with rigging – Certification preferred
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
Ability to climb 50’ ladder into crane
Good communication skills
Ability to work varied hours including weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or overnight shifts required.
