Experience & abilities you will need:
High school education with emphasis on chemistry.
Good knowledge of chemical analysis.
Working knowledge of x-ray analysis.
Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions, percentages.
Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
General knowledge of cement production.
Working knowledge of ASTM procedures.
Must be able to work shifts and work in the plant when needed as directed by the plants supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.
Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting; high degree of manual dexterity and coordination and good eye/hand coordination.
Work Hours:
6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
7 days a week, rotating shift
What you will do:
Under the direction of the laboratory supervisor or the shift supervisor, the Quality Control Technician (QCT) performs tests on material in the production process to assure plant conformance to quality standards and compliance with the American Society of Testing Material and American Petroleum Institute requirements. QCTs will pick up samples of cement, clinker, raw material, or any material that needs to be tested. (not an all-inclusive job description)
Tools & Equipment:
Balance, beaker, burette, wash bottles, evaporating dish, hotplate, pipette, grinding mill, pulverizer, mesh screen, testing equipment, x-ray, computer, microscope, AMT, Blaine meter, Gillmore needle, compression tester, assorted hand tools and miscellaneous equipment.
