Our Senior Accountant performs a variety of accounting duties including GL reconciliation, preparation of financial reports and board reports, review of journal entries and the mentoring of fellow accounting employees.

Major Duties & Responsibilities*
*
Performs month-end duties which includes month-end journal entries, reviewing journal entries made by other employees and reconciling the general ledger, prior to closing the accounting month, ensuring reasonableness and accuracy of accounts. Prepares the monthly board report.

Assists in the daily supervision of the accounting department which includes directing the employees, answering questions and offering training while also looking for ways to improve efficiency within the department.

Approves Accounts Payable check and/or other methods of payment.

Maintains and books investment related entries and reconciliations.

Provides quality service to members and other Credit Union employees and promote the same from the accounting department.

Works with other managers to develop and implement policies and procedures that affect the accounting department.

Ensures the Credit Union is following proper record retention policies and recommends changes.

Knowledge & Skills: *
- 2- 4 years of accounting experience and a 2 year college degree or 7 years of experience in lieu of education.
- Experience working for a financial institution is a plus.
- 1 – 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Self-motivated with an attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and yet effectively with others
- Ability to analyze and evaluate financial data.
