Job Description Summary
The Commercial New Product Introduction supervisor manages the daily operation for manufacturing generators with an hourly workforce of 7 build associates. This department is unique in that it requires a candidate to be able to lead and facilitate cross function teams of engineers, quality, and material specialist to achieve product quality, cost and output metrics on the new commercial product. A nuance to this position is that it requires a working understanding of collective bargaining and contractual governance as we are a union site. Due to the multifaceted nature of the department, a strong candidate must have a solid background in operations, quality, problem solving, conflict resolution, process improvements.Job Description
Essential Responsibility:
Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees involving:
- Oversight and management of hourly direct reports consisting of approximately 7 build specialists.
- Pay and time keeping.
- Prioritization of work.
- Drive continuous improvement activities for the team.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to subordinates and peers.
- Focus on tactical goals while not losing sight of strategic priorities.
- Develop strategies to achieve deliveries.
- Manage labor capacity and hiring plan per workflow and demand schedule.
- Maintain training certifications, FAA and ISO audit certification.
- Develop solutions within a “Lean” culture and team setting to achieve organizational goals.
- Engage peers and workforce to develop projects that impact the productivity and quality.
- Must be able to work cross functionally with other leaders to manage work in process inventories and customer priorities while achieving business metrics.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing).
Desired characteristics
- Direct supervisory experience.
- Engineering or materials background.
- Previous manufacturing background in assembly or machining environments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Developed interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Candidate must be able to navigate through the ambiguity that comes with New Product Development.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Experience in lean, 6 sigma, kaizen or continuous improvement problem solving.
