The EHS Strategy and Operations Leader will report directly to the GE Vernova EHS Leader and will help drive key strategic initiatives and EHS operational outcomes across all energy businesses: Conventional Power, Wind, Electrification and Digital. This individual will serve as a thought and accountability partner to the GE Vernova EHS leader and will proactively work to maximize the GE Vernova EHS leader’s efficiency and efficacy and operationalize the leader’s strategic vision for the organization.
This leader will also play an important role in enabling operational efficiencies across the EHS leadership team and facilitating the team’s operating cadence. Similarly, the EHS Strategy and Operations Leader will work to drive synergies, externally, with other GE Vernova functions to facilitate community stewardship and build cross-functional relationships that are essential to improving safety culture and transformation.
Essential Responsibilities
Working alongside the GE Vernova EHS Leader and collaborating with EHS leadership team and other functions to align and supercharge the team’s ability to execute significant strategic, operational, and cultural visions and agendas.
Independently leading special projects, programs, and meetings for the GE Vernova EHS Leader that impact the success of the organization.
Building organizational capabilities by embedding lean and productivity tools into the operating philosophy and facilitating the internal operating cadence operating cadence to drive strategy and policy execution, problem-solving initiatives, escalations, and responses.
Improving EHS metrics, especially driving reductions in Safety recordables for both employees and contractors
Managing all internal, technical EHS communications.
Developing and executing an engagement strategy for how the EHS leadership team connects and creates transparency across the enterprise, and especially with all Business and Site level EHS teams.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant technical / business field required.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to develop credible and constructive
relationships with peers, business partners, and other internal stakeholders. Highly collaborative person, comfortable with conflict and debate normally associated with change.
Demonstrated experience and ability to transform EHS culture while delivering improvements against a long-term strategic vision pertaining to a large operating footprint (e.g., field, plant, and office operations).
Excellent technical communicator with experience promoting Safety culture and management of change.
Proven ability to lead, motivate and work effectively with diverse, cross-functional global teams
and external agencies in global environments spanning multiple time zones. Must be able to build and earn respect and inspire outstanding, diverse teams.Expertise across complex global environments in manufacturing, projects and services environments including customer sites, contractors, and consortium partners.
Significant operations management experience in large, regulated, high hazard industrial companies, where there is field-based work.
Desired Characteristics
Experience in developing enterprise wide EHS management frameworks including crisis and emergency management.
Experience in a lean operating system environment. A systems thinker with a pragmatic, practical approach.
Demonstrated team building and engagement with staff, customers, consultants, and contractors.
Proven mentoring and coaching abilities and aptitude; demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others and to lead with humility, transparency, and focus.
Technical experience from the Energy sector or hands-on knowledge from engineering design reviews
Experience creating technical EHS content suitable for widespread translation and global distribution.
The salary range for this position is 170.000,00 to 350.000,00 USD . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a 35% target bonus.
