Job Description Summary
The GE Colibrium Additive Engineering Material Laboratory co-op will be responsible for the managing and executing of tasks and projects using equipment within the materials laboratories located at the GE Colibrium Additive Technology Center (TCD). This individual will receive project directives from the Materials Process and Engineering team. The individual will be expected to meet day-to-day objectives supporting long term efforts as well as resolve short term asks through immediate action and collaborative resource planning.Job Description
The expectation of the GE Colibrium Additive Engineering Material Laboratory Co-Op includes:
Effectively use metrology and metallographic tools, such as micrometers, bench saw, profilometers, optical microscopes for inspection of hardware, coupons, and metallic powders.
Gather, record, compile, and interpret quantitative and qualitative material characteristic data, such as surface finish, porosity, grain size, flowability, PSD, Density, etc.
Conduct experiments and inspections on assigned processes, working with Engineering counterparts to develop and document the processes as well as suggest improvements.
Follow technical plans and specifications to meet desired manufacturing objectives and develop plans and specifications when needed.
Participate in internal audit activities (specific to work area and expertise).
Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives and activities.
Support in preparation of invention disclosures that protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business.
Assure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks that is consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Effective verbal communication skills with team members and potential external customers.
Take ownership for assigned lab areas including equipment, supplies, environmental health, and safety (EHS), shop cleanliness.
Perform/Schedule periodic maintenance and safety inspections of assigned equipment.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Associate's Degree program at an accredited College
Degrees focused on Mechanical, Electrical, Material Sciences, Computer Sciences or other relevant STEM majors
Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA off a 4.0 scale

Benefits:
Pay rates for this position begin at $17/hour and increase for each undergraduate year completed. Relocation support and housing assistance is available for those who relocate to a new city.
