The Nuclear Fuel Engineer will contribute to the team responsible for BWR fuel reload licensing and cycle management in GNF-A Fuels Engineering. In this role you will provide innovative licensing and design solutions that ensure high quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures and regulatory agency guidelines.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Perform technical evaluations and provide technical support in the areas of  reload licensing, cycle management, and core monitoring databanks
  • Prepare, document and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with internal and external project managers, technical personnel, and customers on engineering/technical issues
  • Maintain and/or exceed baseline project schedule and cost in delivery of nuclear fuel reload engineering deliverables
  • Contribute to team process improvements to drive speed and simplification
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with NRC rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear fuel design and analysis, nuclear safety analysis, or closely related field

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to domestic and international plant sites (less than 10%)

Desired Characteristics:

  • M.S. or Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) technology
  • Knowledge of plant operational support
  • Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
  • Experience with BWR core simulator and use of 3-Dimensional neutron kinetics codes
  • Programming experience with Python and C#.

The salary range for this position is $99k - 140k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
