Job Description Summary

The GE Hitachi (GEH) Nuclear Sourcing Leader will lead a team and drive all sourcing and logistics activities to support the Nuclear business. This leader and his/her team will be responsible for cash, cost, quality, and support on-time delivery for purchased goods and services. This leader will also ensure our sites are properly executing global GE Sourcing contracts and ensure the sites are represented in future global contracts. The role requires seasoned leadership skills, strong knowledge of sourcing, excellent negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate with and influence key decision makers.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leader of a multi-functional 45-person team responsible for Sourcing, Supplier Quality and Logistics. Responsible for meeting business safety, quality, delivery, cash, and cost goals for procured material and services.
  • Own the sourcing strategy for GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy.  Define the sourcing strategies, approaches, and methodologies for Nuclear.
  • Ensure compliance with sourcing policies, procedures and export control regulations
  • Develop a strong relationship with business leaders, operations and engineering teams to partner in driving key sourcing and business metrics around. Drive sourcing projects from Inquiry to Order (ITO) to Order to Remittance (OTR) in collaboration with the respective leaders.
  • Establish relationship with key suppliers CEOs
  • Responsible for all aspects of supplier selection, qualification, development, contract negotiation and performance. Manage the entire contract life cycle from request for proposal to supplier exit, pay terms, deflation, fulfillment, claims/recovery.
  • Promote margin enhancement and free cash flow for GEH. Collaborate with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger.
  • Build optimal organization structure to support needs of the Nuclear business as well as each of the various Product Lines
  • Drive NCR reduction, surveillance and qualification processes to enhance overall product quality
  • Partner with engineering teams to identify and implement direct material productivity ideas to minimize total cost.
  • Support Nuclear business Customs/Logistics needs. Ensure compliance with regulators as it pertains to Nuclear Logistics (DOC, NRC, DOT, CBP, etc.)
  • Responsible for proper reporting or licensing to authorities as required through regulatory compliance for shipment activities (Importing, Exporting, etc.)
  • Optimize and standardize processes by continuous improvement through the use of daily management and lean tools.
  • Develop strong pipeline of leaders to guide sourcing, supplier quality and logistics teams.  Guide and mentor others and enable talent development.
  • Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve business goals with excellence. Support team with proper staffing and training to maintain compliance, safety, quality and productivity.
  • Champion positive employee relations. Foster employee engagement and ensure that business goals are effectively communicated to employees

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Sourcing, Sales, Commercial Operations and/or Supply Chain
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience

  • Excellent business acumen; Demonstrated clear thinker 
  • Knowledge of the disciplines of sourcing management such as supplier selection, qualification, development, contract negotiation, supplier performance management, inventory, supplier quality, customs and business logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of Nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry
  • Lean principle knowledge and experience in application and leadership; Lean trained with demonstrated ability to apply tools and process rigor
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily
  • Change agent with ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Process leadership experience such as CAP, Work­Out, process improvement, or quality
  • CPM or APICS certification
