Job Description Summary
The Senior Counsel – Global Security and Digital provides domain expertise in the areas of security, privacy, and data protection, demonstrating accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Within this role you will report to the General Counsel, Global Security & Digital and Chief Privacy Officer for the Aerospace business, partner with organizations across the Company and will directly provide legal support to the Digital Technology and Global Security teams, drive compliance initiatives and contribute to the overall business strategy.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Provides legal guidance and advice on complex legal, regulatory, and policy questions in the areas of data privacy, cybersecurity, technology, security, and data governance.
Proactively defines and updates information security and privacy policies, procedures, and processes for the business, determining the business impact and compliance strategies for new regulations in the privacy, data protection, and security space.
Conducts and reviews privacy risk assessments and data protection impact assessments, and provides guidance to business teams on implementation of internal and external processes and tools.
Partners with Government Affairs and Cyber teams on legislative issues and emerging regulations to provide advocacy within industry groups and before government entities.
Coordinates with Aerospace IP Counsel on matters relating to data protection and/or classification.
Advises and helps lead security, cyber, and privacy related incident response investigations in partnership with the Cyber team.
Monitors compliance with relevant internal business and legal processes and policies, enforces existing rules and resolves information security questions.
Reviews and negotiates privacy and cybersecurity requirements related to customer and third-party contracts (e.g., data protection agreements, security terms).
Partners closely with Digital Technology to ensure compliance with applicable law and regulations, including CMMC, GDPR, CCPA, etc.
Responsible for drafting and coordinating any data breach notifications.
Leads strategic outreach with industry peers, trade associations, and government entities on law enforcement and national security matters.
Acts with humility, leads with transparency, and delivers with focus.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctorate degree from accredited university
Minimum 12 years of privacy and/or cyber experience
Member in good standing with the State Bar
Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience
