Job Description

As the Systems Engineering Intern – Battery Degradation and Tools Development, you will:

  • Understand Battery Energy Storage system design, sizing and augmentation methods to support tool development work.
  • Work with Global Research engineers to understand the degradation modeling conducted to date and how it may be advanced and deployed.
  • Work with battery vendors to collect degradation data and develop methodologies for modeling it for use in sizing and performance tools.
  • Develop tools for deploying degrade models in the design of flexible energy capacity guarantees for customers.
  • Research alternative methods of modeling and analysis of performance degradation (capacity and efficiency) and make recommendations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (without rounding)
  • Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field of study in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering.
  • Enrolled in a full time matriculated and nationally accredited baccalaureate or graduate program.
  • Completed at least two full years of college.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and be able to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to follow hardware design principles and development processes.
  • An analytical approach to problem solving with a high degree of curiosity.
  • Willingness and ability to learn from others.
  • Willingness to make and learn from mistakes.
  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team player.
  • One who strives for academic excellence and shows great initiative.
  • Desire to work in a fast paced and agile environment.
  • Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship

Relocation Assistance:

Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.

Housing Allowance:

Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology.
