Job purpose
The purpose of this document is to outline the job responsibilities of the Automation Technician position at GEKA Manufacturing Corporation. Under the general direction of the Production Supervisor, this position will maintain assembly machines, hot foil printer and wiper insertion machines, Assist with planned maintenance, troubleshoot unplanned machine malfunctions and resolve, institute machine safety improvements, lead performance improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operations.
Main accountabilities and tasks
- To be able to work safely and follow all safety guidelines.
- Work with a variety of automation equipment – Rotary and in line indexing assembly machines, hot foil printing machines, pad printing machines and some robotics.
- Maintain and monitor automation systems to ensure product quality and process compliance.
- Perform change overs of automation equipment.
- Trouble shoot, identify root cause, and execute repairs as necessary.
- Fill out production reports accurately and legibly.
- Working on a team to improve the efficiency and quality of the operations.
- Able to stand and work a 12-hour shift.
- Capable of lifting a 30-pound box using safe lifting technique and able to work on and around machinery using tools in a safe manner.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical principles, practical troubleshooting, fabrication, process theory in plastics & robotic systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized manufacturing area and use cleaning tools & devices.
- Fill in for machine operators during breaks and lunch as necessary.
- Work with other people in a respectful manner.
- Proactively engage and support company initiative designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection, and continual improvement.
Desired experience and qualifications
Work experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience working with automation equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Secondary technical training desired.
Other:
- Ability to assertively and efficiently multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Simple control systems wiring and programing a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office suite, Excel, and e-mail systems
Physical requirements
In order to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to see, hear, talk, and use hands and fingers to operate computer hardware and peripherals. The work environment for this position will expose the employee to seasonal environmental temperatures and to loud noise in the warehouse areas. Employee should be able to lift a box up to 30 lbs. using safe lifting technique.

Salary : $50,100 - $63,400
