GelSight is building a platform to digitize touch, the next critical mode of machine intelligence. We have pioneered technology enabling users to finally characterize touch in a meaningful way. The next wave of artificial Intelligence must continue to sense more like humans, and GelSight can digitize what only human hands can touch and do. GelSight technology provides extremely detailed and rapid surface characterization, enabling various applications in aerospace, automotive, forensics and robotics. Our company has recently received recognition for its innovation in tactile intelligence from Fast Company’s Next Big Things in Tech, BostInno- Innovation On Fire, and the Massachusetts Innovation Network Eddies Awards.” GelSight continues to hit new milestones with the recent launch our GelSight Max putting a “lab in the palm of your hand”. In support of this growth, we are looking to add a sales engineer to our team as we grow our revenue and penetrate new accounts.
GelSight seeks a Junior Production Engineer to support low-volume, high-mix production which requires a high level of skill and attention to detail. Initial focus of work will be to learn and perform tasks associated with completing gel production processes for internal and customer demand. With knowledge and experience of the process, the candidate will drive and support daily production and improvements projects related to yield, cycle time, and capacity. The ideal candidate is quality-driven, attentive, and eager to learn, master, and improve assigned processes and materials. The position requires on-site presence working in a laboratory/production setting and reports to the Gel Manufacturing & Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Completing manufacturing processes to ensure timely completion of gel production
- Preparing materials/chemicals, areas, tooling, and equipment for production and engineering needs
- Performing Quality Control inspection, test, release, quarantine, documentation, packaging, etc.
- Creating/drafting documented work instructions and training of less experienced team members
- Performing tasks to troubleshooting production process & equipment issues
- Performing various tasks to assist with development and improvement projects
- Assisting with the qualification of new processes, products, and/or materials
- Compiling reports for various production and development projects
- Maintaining inventory levels of various consumables products
- Regular cleaning and organization of production and laboratory areas
- Assembling/disassembling, cleaning, and maintaining equipment
- Storing, retrieving, weighing, mixing, and coating chemicals
- Recording and entering information into a database
- Assisting other teams and team members, as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- Experience in low-volume/high-mix environments with diverse processes & materials preferred (recent college graduates with internship and/or co-op experience highly encouraged)
- Experience with work that requires excellent hand dexterity
- Experience with work requiring a high level of quality and attention to detail
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including data entry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Desire & ability to strictly comply with safety & quality regulations, including PPE requirements
