DescriptionSkilled Maintenance WorkerGemma Services, located on a picturesque 36-acre campus in Plymouth Meeting and two satellite campus in Philadelphia, promotes safety and nonviolence while cultivating a caring environment in a diverse and inclusive environment. Gemma Services strives to create a community that promotes recovery from trauma for the children and families that we serve.Responsible for performing various duties to support the maintenance function; coordinating work within the department as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information. Typically, hours Monday through Friday and as needed during weekends and emergencies.Analyzes maintenance issues and determines appropriate course of action.Performs general maintenance and repair work, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and minor carpentry repairs; utilizes general hand tools and electrically powered hand tools.Ensures all mechanical equipment is functioning properly, i.e. air conditioners, heating systems, and alarm systems.Performs minor repairs on office equipment, furniture, light fixtures, etc.; replaces light tubes/bulbs as needed.Performs minor carpentry duties needed for building additions and/or updates to existing structures or facilities.Performs minor and routine painting; repairs woodwork and plaster; repaints parking lot lines as needed.May travel to various campuses with agency vehicles.Participates in all agency special events, including set-up and clean-up.Actively participates, as needed, during non-scheduled working hours in snow removal or other emergencies as notified by the Facilities Manager or Vice President of Operations.Education/Training:. A high school diploma or equivalent; specialized maintenance training and/or certification related to plumbing, and electric preferred;Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; moderate interpersonal relations and communicative skills; experience using a computer for emails and work orders, proficient analytical skills; knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems; carpentry skills; ability to read blue prints; knowledge of fire, building, and OSHA codes/regulations; visual and auditory skills; ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, climb up to 30 feet, and lift items weighing 50 lbs. or less; ability to operate hand and power tools; valid driver’s license.Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ related experience required.
