Job Summary:
The clinical team will work directly with patients to provide patient education and coordinate treatment options while maintaining a standard of care. This role is responsible for handling multiple forms of communication to deliver an exceptional patient experience. The Assistants role is to assist the Doctor(s) chairside to deliver care that is comfortable, efficient and productive. This includes preparing the operatory for treatment, taking necessary x-rays, inputting patient information in the software program (chart), etc., and serving the Doctor(s) beyond expectation.

Primary Responsibility
Understand the verbal, assumed, and foreshadowed needs and wants of the Doctor and patients to help improve the efficiency and productivity of the practice.
Ensure “time integrity” for the Clinical Team, making sure the Doctor’s time is spent wisely
Accurately prepare operatories with the correct tools prior to each scheduled treatment to mitigate downtime and eliminate need to leave room during treatment
Maintain all dental equipment including compressor, vacuum, water system, suction lines, light curing units, etc.
Oversee patient while administering nitrous oxide (do not leave patients unattended)
Assist Doctor during treatment and provide post-op instruction before and after treatment.
Clean and sterilize operatory after each treatment is completed.
Take films and impressions. Assist in making temporaries, E4D crowns and cementing crowns/bridges.
Be knowledgeable and promote other dental services such as teeth whitening, Invisalign, night guards, toothbrushes, etc.
Advise the front office when the Doctor is running more than ten minutes behind so that they may inform scheduled patients.
Input all treatment/treatment plans in the management software program (charts) as necessary; document all sedations as required. Put in emergency treatment plans.
Ensure patient records are complete and accurate.
Prepare lab slips for the Doctor and ensure that pickup and delivery dates are monitored and maintained. Notify business office if cases are not on site 1 day prior to appt.
Advise the front office when a patient requires additional (or less) time units than normal for their upcoming treatment or when a temp is on with RelyX—this aids in scheduling efficiency.
Set up trays for next day
Lab Specific
Keep lab and sterilization areas clean and orderly.
Clean suction traps, run cleaner through suction lines and check oil in compressor, clean Autoclave and E4D maintenance as required, change canisters on vacuum system, and any other maintenance items required to maintain clinical systems
Sterilize instruments to prepare each room for patient visits.
Set up trays for doctors daily appointments
Manage maintenance calls
General maintenance in lab
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education
Specialized training and certification preferred
Education and State License required for some positions
