Genentech’s Department of Oncology Bioinformatics has an opening for a highly motivated and talented Principal Scientist (Bioinformatics) to join our cross-functional Cell Therapy Group in Genentech’s Research and Early Development organization. The scientist will collaborate with the Cancer Immunology department to advance research, and clinical development, of autologous T cell therapies against cancer.
Cell therapies hold great promise to be transformational in the treatment of a variety of cancer indications. Genentech is developing cutting-edge personalized T cell-receptor engineered autologous and allogeneic therapies targeting neoantigens for the treatment of solid tumors.
The successful candidate will join a group of computational biologists focused on research on neoantigens, understanding T cells targeting neoantigens, and developing T cell therapies targeting neoantigens in solid tumors. This is an exciting application of computational biology in the clinic, wherein targets are identified using bioinformatics approaches, including designing the treatment for each patient in an individualized manner. The ideal candidate will have key expertise in using bulk and single cell sequencing analysis to understand immune cells, tumor microenvironment and immune pathways, and a demonstrated record of conducting scientific research in computational biology.
PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a related field. Alternatively, you have a PhD in Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a similar field with a strong hands-on bioinformatics component.
3 years (Senior Scientist) or 6 years (Principal Scientist) of post-doctoral, academic faculty, or industrial experience.
Experience in single cell sequencing analysis is required.
You have strong experience in NGS and other ‘omics data analysis (RNA-seq, TCR-seq, ATAC-seq, whole exome sequencing, etc.).
Strong background in oncology and immunology is highly preferred.
Expertise in T cells and/or NK cell biology.
Track record of independent research and creativity, as demonstrated by high impact first or senior author publications.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are required.
