We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for construction projectsAssistant Estimator
The Estimator will report to the Estimating Manager and be accountable for working with the broader estimating team in preparing and coordinating quantity take-offs. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing and submission of bid packages.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
· Prepares and coordinates quantity take-offs with supervision.
· Communicates with sub-trades and suppliers to ensure understanding of scope of work.
· Prepare sub-trade submission packages.
· Assist with the development of the estimate.
· Communicates with sub-trades for understanding of scope of work.
· Ability to check and verify one's own quantities using other sources.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Engineering/Construction diploma/degree
· No Less than 2 years of industry experience
· Students with construction internship accepted
Knowledge & Skills:
· Blue-print reading
· Basic understanding of Standard Method of Measurement.
· Basic understanding of construction methodology, including development, contracting and consulting.
· Basic trade/product knowledge
· Technology savvy in Excel and Word programs
· Mathematically inclined
· Attention to detail
· Time Management
· Ability to prioritize
· Good communication skills
· Research abilities - general/pricing
· Ability to work within a team
Be responsible and Reliable on his/her work.
Salary and Benefits:
· Starting Salary $ 65K to $75K
· Paid Holidays, sick leaves, Vacations.
Duties:
- Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate
- Prepare detailed estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
- Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time and raw material expenses
- Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price
- Evaluate offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements
- Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction estimating
- Knowledge of construction materials, costs, and procedures
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documents
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients
