Overview
The Fiber Optic team is responsible for the design, development, qualification, integration, and testing of the Fiber Optic Cable System (FOCS) on TRIDENT, VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class submarines. In addition to owning the whole boat fiber optic backbone on modern submarines, the fiber optic team is also Electric Boats Fiber Optic Center of Excellence providing general fiber optic support across the board.
The Fiber Optic team requires engineers to be proficient in multitasking, communication and problem solving. Owning and managing a system across multiple submarine platforms that interfaces with over twenty (20) different subsystems creates a unique work environment where juggling numerous tasks simultaneously is a daily occurrence.
This position will require for the engineer to perform technology investigations, write white papers, track network connectivity in the form of Government Furnished Information (GFI) and Contractor Furnished Information (CFI), resolve construction issues, identify/manage risks, identify opportunities for cost reduction, track/evaluate requirements, and manage various projects.
The candidate for this position will also be required to interface with NAVSEA, government vendors and various other Electric Boat departments on a daily basis.

Required:
- A Bachelor of Master's degree of Science in Engineering
- ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems engineering
- Experience with fiber optics
