Department 432 is responsible for the design, development, integration, test, and support of Ship Control Systems (SCS) for multiple classes of submarines. A SCS may include more than twenty electronics cabinets located throughout the platform, which handle the interface with as many as 1,500 signals required to support successful ship operation. These SCS include reliable embedded control systems and graphical user interfaces that are used to control and monitor various ship systems.

The Ship Control Systems Engineering Analysis Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and execution of all work necessary to complete the efforts to perform platform and subsystem level simulations in support of ship design and performance evaluations for current and future platforms. In addition, they will also be responsible for leading the cybersecurity efforts related to the design, development, and deployment of the SCS to the fleet.
Other daily responsibilities include supervision of 10-15 salaried engineering personnel, delegation of job assignments, budget and schedule management utilizing EVMS, monitoring mentoring of employees, employee development planning, interviewing/hiring activities, prioritization of work, development of engineering estimates, commitment reporting, and appraisal of employee performance.
This position requires regular external interaction with NAVSEA, SUPSHIP, NSWC, SP, UK MoD, and other involved activities. There is also a need to regularly interact with many internal departments to facilitate the completion of required products.
