Engineer - Systems

Overview

COLUMBIA Construction Support Engineering has openings for highly motivated engineers to provide support for SSBN 826 and 827 ongoing construction. In this role, engineers will be expected to provide comprehensive oversight of construction activities and will interface with cognizant Design and Engineering personnel, Ship's Management, Program Office, Detail Planning, Production Planning, Material Availability Team, Material Planning, Design Build Sustain, and Operations to support construction of COLUMBIA Class major modules.

Responsibilities will include the following:

• Provide engineering oversight to emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction
• Ensuring drawing revisions and change notices that support construction activities are being prioritized and worked
• Attend all production meetings for a given project, provide status of holdups, and drive completion of actions supporting construction such as work package development, material procurement, and Change Request / Change Notice processing
• Interface with technical authority points of contact and provide oversight for translation of drawings into work orders and instructions
• Confirming that material procurement activities are completed in a manner that supports construction activity schedules
• Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material at Quonset Point

This position is for full time work at the Quonset Point, Rhode Island facility. However, there is also opportunity for candidates to work from the Eagle Park, Connecticut facility with part time travel to Quonset Point.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Engineering
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher is required
• Candidate must be from organizations outside of operations (Casciano/Gabriel)

Preferred

• Teamcenter experience
• CR/CN experience and familiarity with change management processes
• At least one year relevant engineering experience

Skills

The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Candidate must be highly motivated and be able to perform independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in a team environment.
