Government Accounting and Audit Specialist

Job description:

  • Primary responsibilities will be supporting external Government Audit agency requests covering business systems, Cost Accounting Standards and GDLS’ annual incurred cost submission. This includes the following tasks:
    • Comprehensive account reviews for cost reasonableness, allocability and allowability
    • Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation
    • Identification and escalation of potential risk areas
    • Development of correcting entries
    • Draft responses to audit inquiries in a timely manner
  • Review and update annual submission of the company’s disclosed accounting practices
    • Coordinate with internal functions for recommended changes
    • Maintain change log summary
    • Prepare formal documentation for submittal
  • Lead Earned Value Management System(EVMS) internal audit surveillance program including development of annual plan to evaluate criteria, conduct audit steps and report results to leadership
  • Support proposal efforts including reviews of specific categories of cost to ensure compliance with our disclosed practices
  • Perform regulatory research as necessary
  • Interface with Government auditors as necessary

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel
  • Detail oriented with solid critical thinking abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS and GAAP regulations
  • Knowledge of EVMS guidelines
