The SEC ISS program is a comprehensive IT program charged with operating, managing, and advancing the SEC's IT infrastructure. Our dynamic program team of IT leaders and large and small business partners is seeking bright, energetic and talented individuals to join us as we bring our innovative IT Service Delivery solutions to SEC. Currently, we are seeking a Cloud Engineer with Azure expertise.
The Azure Cloud Senior Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimization of cloud services. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Azure cloud architecture, a strong background in IT operations, and a deep understanding of cloud security, automation, and DevOps practices.

The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture and Design:
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Develop architecture blueprints, detailed documentation, and guidelines for cloud infrastructure.
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations for optimization.
- Manage and automate the deployment of cloud services, ensuring best practices are followed.
- Configure and manage Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Active Directory, and Azure DevOps.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, or Azure Resource Manager.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure system health and performance.
- Optimize resource utilization and cost management through continuous monitoring and refinement.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with security policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and manage security measures such as identity and access management, encryption, and network security.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits, and address vulnerabilities promptly.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps practices and tools.
- Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
- Work closely with IT operations, development, and business teams to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Azure cloud services.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
- Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert) preferred.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Deep knowledge of networking, security, and compliance in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
