Supplier Quality Manager
Reports To: Manager - Quality Assurance
Work Location: Madison Heights and Livonia
GFC is seeking a Supplier Quality Manager to manage the daily operations of supplier quality which includes directing the activities of the quality engineer and working with new and existing suppliers to improve quality processes and supports all quality efforts required to attain and maintain quality records and quality standards expected by GFC and its customers. With over 100,000 SKUs, General Fasteners Company (GFC) is a full-service distributor for a wide range of Fastener and Assembly Components in over 40 product categories. We excel at providing great products, superior client service, customized Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, product testing, and engineering solutions for our valued clients. Responsibilities include:
- Manage and assess department personnel; mentor and train to improve department skills
- Schedule, coordinate, and conduct audits at supplier facilities
- Assist with APQP activities
- Manage and coordinate problem-solving activities to resolve supplier performance issues
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Collect, analyze, and report data pertaining to supplier performance and other quality information
- Ensure timely and effective closure of corrective action requests
- Provide technical support to internal and external personnel
- Verify product quality concerns identified by inspection technicians
Qualifications include:
- At least 2 years' experience in Quality Assurance
- Experience auditing of Quality Management Systems
- Knowledgeable in QMS requirements, i.e., ISO, TS
- Understands APQP process and documentation
- Expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action plans
- Supervisory experience; able to mentor, train, and motivate others
- Able to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Able to build strong relationships
- Acts with integrity
- Expertise in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written
- Excellent skills in negotiations and ability to influence
- College degree preferred but not required
