He or she will manage a group of 15 to 30 individuals in developing battery system requirements and battery architectures for our next gen. EV designs. The role is a hybrid role, with approximately 40% of the work in office and 60% of the work at home. Additionally, there may be some travel, both domestically and internationally (< 10% of the time).

Key Responsibilities:

This is a people-leader role.

Support automotive and non-automotive development teams by leading your team to document requirements for high-voltage propulsion battery systems.

Lead a team to perform analysis to synthesize and allocate requirements by developing standard methods/processes and tools required for analytical work.

Lead a team to execute standard methods/processes on-time and with quality through GM's available process-management toolchains (e.g. Stages, MS Project Plans, etc.).

Lead engineers and workgroups to develop and balance battery requirements.

Manage key strategic interfaces within propulsion and vehicle systems to enable component reuse and adherence to best practices.

Lead a team to coordinate requirements development with other propulsion and vehicle systems.

Motivate a team to design tests or analysis methods to efficiently identify opportunities for design improvements.

Ensure your team works all engineering change requisitions (both for hardware and software) holistically and with a sense of urgency.

Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and set strategic direction for General Motor's battery system performance requirements (e.g., power, energy, etc.)

Identify and document system vulnerabilities and create mitigation action plans. Track corrective actions.
- Develop support plans for battery validation signoff.
Additional Job Description
Required Skills:

Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or equivalent
-
10 years of demonstrated technical knowledge and ability in relevant engineering disciplines (e.g. Electrochemistry Based Energy Storage, DC and AC Power, Materials, Thermal, EMC, Control Theory)

Experience with and/or knowledge of relevant technologies (e.g., Vehicle battery systems, high voltage hardware, electric traction motors, power electronics)
-
Strong understanding of major automotive subsystems and the vehicle development lifecycle
-
Strong understanding of preliminary hazard analyses, fault-tree analyses, and safety failure mode effects analyses for battery packs
-
Experience or knowledge of relevant tools (e.g., Matlab, Simulink, Rhapsody, IBM Change Synergy, IBM Rational Team Concert, Siemens NX, Microsoft Office/Teams)

Strong ability to efficiently interpret empirical data

Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication, emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
