Job Description
The Material Coordinator position is located within the GM Defense Advance Build space at Milford Proving Grounds and will support build activities. The Material Coordinator will be the liaison between GM purchasing, product engineering, manufacturing, and our supply base. In this role, the Material Coordinator will champion material management, part display/storage, shipping and receiving in the Milford Advanced Build Shop space. This is an in-person position at Milford Proving Grounds.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Develop Internal Parts tracking system, updating required quantities, tracking inventory, working with inventory specialists to manage inventory, pulling parts, labeling, and setting up build carts for build shop activities.

Enter and review BOM details for spare parts requirements in inventory management system

Update Inventory management system with requirement details as required to support part deliveries

Manage materials at storage facilities - arrange transportation to and from, complete quarterly reviews of materials

Communicating with suppliers to provide specifications for parts required and follow up to receive quotes for requested materials

Write SAP shopping carts with appropriate details and monitor status through approval process (expediting as necessary) until Purchase Orders are issued

Communicate with Suppliers regarding Purchase Orders and monitor manufacturing status. Engage Engineering, Management, or Supplier Quality as required to address roadblocks

Submit orders for internal Manufacturing

Communicate with Internal manufacturing shops to provide materials ordering support, priority direction for existing orders, and promise dates for parts in the system. Arrange pickup and transportation for materials or parts completed at the manufacturing facility.

Arrange and support materials transportation to and from suppliers and customer.

Execute Internal parts ordering through CCA (Customer Care & Aftersales)

Collaborate with Financial Analyst and Buyers to manage program spending and comparing actuals to metrics for the project.

Track and Report Material Status to Expected Delivery and Collaboratively manage impact to project timing and delivery schedules.

Coordinates scrap material activities with returned parts and Engineering team.
Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree OR Bachelor degree in technical discipline OR equivalent work experience considered in lieu of degree.

Minimum 2 years of experience in vehicle development/manufacturing

Ability to work within a small team atmosphere
- Ability to multi-task supporting engineering and manufacturing teams, supplier capacity, and customer requirements

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

Excellent communication and command skills are vital to be successful in this position

Strong Organization Skills - Managing Information from multiple locations and sources

This position requires either a U.S. Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization(s)

Role may require DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications

3 years of experience in materials management

Ability to navigate ambiguity to execute tangible solutions

Knowledge of procurement software or ability to learn and adapt to new applications quickly
