Job Description
This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance to the innovation center they are selected for. Relocation will be provided as needed.

About Corporate Development IT

GM is rapidly developing new lines of business while strategically evolving existing products. It all starts with the Corporate Development, Innovation and Growth team working alongside the GM business deal makers to anticipate the business needs and align IT solutions to meet those needs. Whether supporting the opening of a new business or ensuing the ongoing success of existing partners and alliances, the Corporate Development IT team is integral to ensuring the future success of General Motors. The team interfaces with the external business partners to ensure their successful integration with GM systems and resources. In parallel, the team works with other process areas to ensure that the specific system and data requirements of the partnership are fulfilled. About the role:

This role is responsible and accountable for the technical aspects of solutions that provide optimal solutions needed to address the issues faced while carrying out the mission of Corporate Development, Innovation and Growth. Because of the comprehensive and multi-disciplinary nature of these solutions, the Solution Architect role will engage cross-functional teams across the GM IT CIO areas, interaction with business partners, interaction with external IT departments of GM's joint ventures and alliances and engage Vendors. As part of this team, this individual is expected to perform Enterprise Architect role also as a well-rounded technical leader to baseline the current state, define the transformation to a desired state with business engagement, provide end to end design, integration, and deployment of IT solutions to meet technology, security, and compliance requirements. You will coach/mentor software developers and will review the software being developed. This role will contribute to all development activities including sizing, design, coding, testing, certification, documentation, deployment, with strong foundation on DevOps practices.

Additional Job Description

Major Duties / Responsibilities
  • Responsible for comprehending the functional, nonfunctional, security, regulatory and compliance requirements, data classifications and drive the design and operating procedures.
  • Able to interact with Vendors, external Partners, Suppliers to evaluate products and integration solutions meeting GMIT technical and security standards.
  • Ensure close engagement with GM IT Information Security Management policies and recommendations, support compliance audits, GMIT security standards, required patching to maintain secure IT environment.
  • Responsible for defining solution architecture to include evaluation, selection and integration of necessary technical components that realize the defined functional, non-functional and security requirements. Strong emphasis on effective communication, ability to socialize and develop consensus.
  • Capable of managing all technical aspects of large enterprise projects including developing prototypes, ability to develop code, infrastructure platforms, networks, load balancers, firewalls, databases, load and functional testing.
  • Lead and participate in troubleshooting application incidents, resolving deployment issues, application ownership of CDIG specific tools and solutions, integration failures, ability to mine the logs, coordinate cross functional triage and provide long term implementation guidance.
  • Define and own coding practices, coding standards, development and hosting best practices
  • Leading and mentoring other team members including code reviews, project set-up, ensuring alignment to standards, managing the cloud environment and DevOps

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in IT related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10 or years or more experience developing/deploying IT systems
  • 5 years or more in using technologies such as Java, .Net, SQL, JavaScript etc.
  • 5 years or more in technology implementation such as Azure, PCF, Kubernetes, SaaS Solutions, Identity Federation, Encryptions, SAML, SSO, DevOps, CICD, Microservices, SPA etc.
  • 5 years or more implementing REST, SOAP, Webservices, COTS solutions etc.
  • Experience implementing frameworks such as Spring Boot, Quarkus, ReactJS, Angular etc.
  • Hands on experience in troubleshooting, debugging and configuring software
