JOB TITLE: Grinding Operator

DEPARTMENT: Operations

LOCATION: Phenix City, AL

TRAVEL: N/A


Columbus Brick, a division of General Shale Brick, is seeking a Grinding Room Operator for our manufacturing facility in Phenix City, AL. This position is hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow safety standards and procedures
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
  • Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure minimal unplanned stops
  • Communicate and record abnormalities to the supervisor
  • Monitor the equipment and record daily data of the condition of the equipment
  • Must be able to perform minor troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
  • Ensure quality of the material being grinded
  • Keep material stock levels.

EDUCATION:

  • High school or equivalent required
  • MSHA Training

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Forklift experience, loader and backhoe experience or the ability to learn to operate them safely
  • 1 years experience in manufacturing preferred
  • Experience with hammer mills is a plus
  • Experience with belt conveyors is a plus

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Able to perform various form of physical labor (i.e. lifting 50 lbs/ standing)
  • Ability to work well with others and be a team player
  • Perform light maintenance on equipment
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Committed to working in a zero harm workplace
  • Able to work flexible hours when needed
